A calm, relaxed dog makes for a happy client who is easier to work with. Taking the time to make each canine client feel comfortable before and during a grooming session decreases the stress, fear, and reactivity many dogs experience at the grooming salon and goes a long way to adding value to a business. When dogs are happy, pet parents are happy.

In this 2 day workshop, grooming professionals learn what canine massage and low-stress handling are and how they be used to foster positive relationships with canine clients. Topics include recognizing and appropriately responding to canine behavior and body language, understanding what effects stress and fear have on a dog’s body and behavior, approaching dogs in a non-threatening way, gaining a dog’s trust, positioning your body during a grooming session, and maintaining proper canine body alignment. Students learn and practice low-stress handling and massage techniques as well as desensitization and distraction techniques to promote calm and relaxation for a more successful and efficient grooming experience.

This workshop is exclusively for grooming professionals.
